T ogether with Bayer MaterialScience and Cyberdyne, we used exoskeleton robotics to design a device for amateur swimmers. Inspired by bio-mimicry principles, Cyberdive allows a natural swimming technique, perfectly tailored to fit the human body. More info:
A team of engineers in Massachusetts has built a robot that looks, feels and swims like a fish. It’s agile enough to make a full C-turn, like a fish in escape mode. It’s swift enough to execute the escape maneuver almost as fast as a real fish, in tenths of a second. And unlike most robots, if it slams into you, it won’t break your leg. It’s soft. More info:
MIITO is an innovative product that heats liquids directly in the vessel to be used, hence eliminating the heating of excess water. Simply fill your cup with water, place it onto the induction base and immerse the rod in the liquid. The induction base heats the rod, which then heats the liquid surrounding it. MIITO works with non-ferrous vessels of any size, for example a pot of tea when inviting guests. MIITO can also heat your soup or milk for a coffee. More info:
The collection of robot fish (called ‘Dofi’) offer an effective and sustainable way of removing dirt and cleaning clothes. They were inspired by doctor fish, which can make people’s skin clean and healthy by feeding on dead skin or an affected area. The Dofi run on hydroelectric power and clean garments by detecting dirt with a tiny embedded camera. More info:
‘IXION’ – the windowless private plane by technicon design, has fuselage and wing mounted cameras that send unhindered comprehensive exterior views to the flexible screens that cover the cabin’s walls. parallax barrier technology allows multiple displays on one screen so in-flight video conferencing and the 360° view can be visible simultaneously. RollScoutâ„¢ puts an end to those annoying lapses. RollScoutâ„¢ warns you when there's not enough paper on the roll through a bright and noticeable flashing light that draws your attention. So you can change the roll beforehand. RollScout will be able to notify you via email, text, smartphone app, or through a web dashboard. RollScout will achieve this by connecting to your existing wifi network using an onboard ultra low power wireless module. More info:
The world's first-ever smartshoe is called Le Chal, which means "let's go" in Hindi. Designed by Anirudh Sharma, who works at the MIT Media Lab, and Krispian Lawrence, these shoes work as haptic navigation devices that connect to your smartphone. Once you're on your way, the shoes vibrate when it's time to turn on the left side for a left turn and on the right for a right turn. The vibrations become more intense as you get closer to your destination. More info:
